Audrey O’Hagan Architects provided design services for the renovation of two lecture halls in the Science Center at Harvard University, which comprises 351 seats and 249 seats. The building was originally designed by Josep Lluís Sert and completed in 1972.
Harvard’s goals for the fast-paced project was to create a modern interior environment which fosters a more effective teaching and learning experience. In addition to architecturally developing a new vision of enlightenment for all four lecture halls in the series – each distinguished by its own use of color – the scope of work included modifications to the existing mechanical, electrical and fire alarm systems, audio-visual upgrades, lighting re-design, acoustical improvements and abatement.
All furniture and finish materials meet the Healthier Hospitals Healthy Interiors goals for elimination of harmful chemicals and products, and support Harvard University’s commitment to sustainable, safe, and healthy environments.
